As I have for the past two years at this very same time, I'm officially calling myself on the hunt for a giant clam shell. It's been one of those things idling away on my wish list, year after year prioritized behind a bigger, more expensive decorating endeavor. But I think this might be the day I finally bring one home to Holtwood House.

I've earmarked all the different ways I'd decorate with my shell - tabletops, bookshelves, as an entertaining platter or a planter. But I keep going back to the first place I thought to display it, one that would certainly ensure it was seen all summer long.

No, not in the tub - though quite honestly, I think this is a brilliant way to make this decorative piece functional.
I took inspiration long ago from the Parker Palm Springs' poolside bar- The Lemonade Stand- and pretty much set my heart on filling it with lemons from our tree and placing it atop our own poolside bar.
An authentic shell can be a little pricey. Z Gallerie has had a pretty spot on composite reproduction in their inventory for the past couple of seasons and I've been counting on that less expensive purchase. Of course, it would need to come inside during the rainy season, which will give me some other display options to explore.

I've been on the hunt too! Try the Agoura Antique Mart. I've spotted a few, but just haven't found the right one for me. It's by the Canyon Club.

Go with the Z Galleries one! It's a great piece!
What a crazy/cool piece of art to have in your home! I'd honestly never even considered having one, but seeing all the cute ways you could make it work really makes me want to check them out!
