Project Reveal // Our Great Outdoors

Today, after three years of demolition, design and re-landscaping, I'm very happy to share a look at what we now see outside our back door - the multi-use, poolside entertaining area of our dreams.

I've shared plans and progress reports along the way (you can revisit some of that here, here and here if you'd like) and while there is still some detail work left in the plan, we're more than ready to sit right back and enjoy it in its current glory.

We made efficient use of nearly every square foot and placed entertaining vignettes at all four corners of the yard - a flagstone patio to the north, covered patio and bar to the south, deck for lounging at the eastern end and fireside patio to the west. We tucked additional gardening space for vegetables, plants and grasses in spaces in between. No area was wasted.

The covered patio outside the kitchen tends to serve as the hub. Here, family and friends belly up the bar which faces a banquette placed just under the kitchen window.

The fireside patio now allows entertaining past dark to carry on in other areas of the yard beyond the patio bar.

We had planned to build out a sofa of our own design for this space, but liked the deep lounging bench we recently purchased at World Market and decided to run with it instead. I upholstered some cushions to give it the custom look we were after all along. We will likely upgrade additional seating in this area, but we're also satisfied with it in its current state.

Wow! It's like a little vacay in your own backyard. Everything has come together so great! I've had my eye on that World Market bench for some time now. Love the depth of it. So jealous!

Whoa, the bar area looks straight out of a hollywood hot spot. I'm sure you're going to get great use out of it this summer. And many summers to come, really.

So craving a pool in this Valley heat.
