Project Thirty Three

Though we've lived at Holtwood House for a little over a year, it has taken much of that time to renovate and lay the decorating groundwork. Walls sit bare throughout the house, temporary furniture is still in some cases in place and though first attempts have been made, shelves and cabinetry remain for the most part un-styled.

At this stage, we're looking to add some color to our mostly grey palette throughout the house and are turning to things like artwork, textiles and accessories to help us do that. The magical world of Pinterest introduced me recently to Project Thirty-Three, a website of archived album cover art from the 1950s and 60s. I'm just swooning over the colorful graphics and typography once used to convey a message about the music on the album. It's got me thinking that a framed grouping might pack just the right colorful, meaningful punch to one of the walls in our mid-century home.

Project Thirty-Three is an archive of fabulous album cover art maintained by Jive Time Records. Check out the rest of their collection here.

My man and I have long loved the album covers from this time period. We have a few framed for the man cave that never was. Hope to be able to put our Time Out and Bitches Brew up in the new place (maybe by the piano for some visual inspiration). I have this book if you wanna borrow for more ideas/color copies of hard to find originals: http://www.amazon.com/Groove-Vintage-Record-Graphics-1940-1960/dp/0811821218
