I hold a special place in my heart for the first apartment I ever lived solo in. It was a studio, tucked far away into a little corner on the third floor of a big apartment building. Though it was not on the top floor, I called it "the penthouse" because its balcony extended out between two trees into a big grassy field, with no obstructions and nothing looking back at it. I loved that balcony. I sunbathed and entertained, held small dinner parties and enjoyed morning coffee from that little perch. I would open the slider wide and let the ocean air stream in from its doors every day of the week. Admittingly, my gardening habits outgrew it. But I recall it fondly as the one thing I really didn't want to give up when The Mister and I decided it was time to find a bigger place together.
I'm over at Young Sophisticates again today, with some ideas on creating a balcony that will be one of the hardest working rooms inside and outside the house. I hope you'll pop on over and see some of the fresh ways these spaces are being used.
Here, you'll find my top picks to give your room with a view a little pre-summer pick me up.
Shop my top picks:
hanging brass planter | wooly pocket | formosa tray table | kronos raised planters | plano outdoor pillow | careen lanterns
loloi indoor/outdoor rug | metal cage lights | tarno folding table | director's chair | platta decking | steel + white wooden market umbrella
I pinned some of these for future reference. Awesome finds! I do love my first apartment as well....whenever I'm in that city I make it a point to drive by and see how the building is doing.....Have a lovely weekend.
